Education and Faith Forming

"Living the Sacred" is the theme for the 2008 School of Christian Mission.  All women and teen girls are invited to attend the School of Christian Mission on July 20-23, 2008.  Everyone participates in the Spiritual Growth Study, "I Believe in Jesus" and chooses a second study, either "Israel and Palestine" or "Giving Away Our Hearts: Native American Survival."  Teens are in a separate and will experience hands-on mission work too.   A shorter "Mission Education Event" will be held the weekend of October 17-19, 2008 in Marshalltown.  Lodging is at near-by motels.

Men's Study and Fellowship meets from 6:16-7 am on Wednesday mornings.  Breakfast and conversation, and current happenings in men's lives.  Please contact C.J. Osborn (641-792-9095) or Osborn@pcpartner.net, if you would like more information.

Men's Fellowship and Outreach Group, especially for men who are retired, but all men are welcome, meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. for supper, fellowship and outreach conversation.  Current outreach projects include Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at the Angel Food Distribution Site on the third Saturday of each month.  Contact Harry Jones at 641-792-4758 for more information.

Other choirs can be organized.  We have had chime choirs, a men's choir, a women's choir and a Christmas band at various times through the years.  To participate or lead, call Jan Lewis, 792-3662, rivers4@netins.net.

 

Social

Baby Boomers - Baby boomers, near-boomers or boomer-wanabees get together every other month or so for a variety of social activities. Dining out, bonfires and Christmas parties are just a sampling of their previous activities.
This group meets on an irregular basis.

Sandwich Bunch
For those of you older and wiser than the baby-boomers there's Sandwich Bunch. They meet on Sunday evenings once a month for dinner and fellowship through social activities, presentations and lectures.
